School Warns Students Not To Chant ‘USA’, What Kids Do Instead Has Officials Regretting It

A California high school, Vista Del Lago High in Folsom, stirred controversy by advising students against chanting “USA” at sporting events and rallies, citing concerns it might come off as intolerant. Students and some parents expressed confusion and frustration, arguing the chant symbolizes unity. School officials clarified that while the chant is not banned, it should be used appropriately, such as after the national anthem. Critics on social media accused the school of undermining patriotism and First Amendment rights, while officials emphasized the importance of practicing empathy and kindness.
